Fund Types, San Diego Human Dignity FoundationThe inherent diversity of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community translates into a wide variety of needs. SDHDF houses all types of charitable funds in order to address these needs appropriately. Each fund makes a visible difference in the lives of many and helps us build stronger a stronger community.

Some of the funds are endowments or permanent sources of income where the principle gift is preserved in perpetuity. Only the income produced by careful investment of the principle is used for grants. Endowment funds are a powerful way to leave a lasting legacy that will support causes indefinitely into the future.

In contrast, some funds have been created with plans to eventually grant the entire fund over a period of time. This might be a fund that addresses a need that is acute now or in the near future.

Whether your goals are to address a specific need or broader quality of life issues, we can help you find the right fund to support them.

Where does the money come from?

All funds are supported by individuals or groups with solid philanthropic ideals. Gifts to establish or provide continued support to funds comes from donors in a variety of ways. Some donors simply write a check for a one-time donation. Others make a series of contributions to help build a fund. One of the best ways to make an impact on your favorite cause is to make a planned estate gift that preserves your wealth and provides for future income to support the cause.
