By establishing a field of interest fund, you can target your gift to address the needs in an important area of community life. Arts. HIV/AIDS. Aging. At-risk youth. You identify your personal interest area when making your gift. Our board awards grants to community organizations and programs that are making a difference in the area you select. Your gift stays flexible enough to meet community needs in your interest area, even as they change over time. Advancing civil rights, the arts, health and education, as well as families, seniors, and youth are a few examples of the many causes that inspire donors to create field of interest funds. A field of interest fund allows donors to contribute to a fund in an area of need that they care about. Donors receive an income tax deduction for their opening contribution and any subsequent donations. Depending on the fund, donors may play a role in making grant recommendations. Other people, such as community members, can also make tax-deductible contributions to the fund. SDHDF oversees the grant making process, invests the funds and provides record-keeping services. Community members may make tax-deductible contributions to an existing field of interest fund that addresses a cause or nonprofit group they wish to support. Minimum to open a field of interest fund: $10,000 Current field of interest funds:
