Mission:
To collect, preserve and teach the history of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) communities primarily in San Diego County and Tijuana.
A SDHDF grant helped to fund traveling exhibits and presentations. Lambda Archives of San Diego’s (LASD’s) organizational goal is to raise the community value of this San Diego LGBT cultural asset by increasing its community outreach, as well as its accessibility as a research institution.
Traveling exhibits are a vital piece of the LASD community education and outreach effort and are particularly effective in reaching LGBT youth. With the funding made possible by SDHDF, LASD anticipates continuing an active program of traveling exhibits and presentations to increase awareness of local LGBT history and LASD’s holdings, as well as the archive's availability as a source for community history research.
Just a note to tell you how much I enjoyed the multi-media program at the 20th Anniversary Celebration for Lambda Archives. The program was truly outstanding and deserves all the recognition it can get. Thank you so much for a wonderful evening. I know how hard everyone worked to make it all happen. It is a joy for me to be associated with such a fine organization. ~Patrick T. McArron |
