Our Legacy Society is made up of donors like you who plan to leave a gift to San Diego Human Dignity Each year, we hold an event for Legacy Society members. We also list members in our publications and web site, unless they request anonymity. You may join the Legacy Society simply by informing us that you intend to leave a gift to San Diego Human Dignity Foundation. For more information about our Legacy Society, email Tony Freeman or call him at 619-291-3383. Click here to View a list of our Legacy Society members. The Legacy Society Plays a Vital Role in Growing Our Endowment and Grant-Making Capacity Unless a Legacy Society member earmarks his or her bequest towards a particular fund or issue, Legacy Society gifts are considered unrestricted, and are invested in our LGBT Community Endowment Fund and used to support our operations. In this way, Legacy Society members can be assured that their bequests will benefit San Diego’s LGBT community in perpetuity. As our endowment grows, it represents an increasingly important source of stability, confidence and pride for our community. Joining the Legacy Society is the best way to help our endowment to grow. The Foundation’s LGBT Community Endowment Fund represents a permanent financial resource that can benefit our community for generations to come. How does our endowment allow the Foundation to do this? Like any endowment, only the investment earnings from these assets can be used by the Foundation to make grants. The fund’s principal (or “corpus”) cannot be spent. As a result, our endowed funds remain “on deposit” in perpetuity. This endowment is an asset can never be taken away from us. As long as these funds generate investment returns, money will be available to be granted. At this point in time, we are proud to be able to say that our Legacy Society represents many millions of dollars of estimated future value for San Diego’s LGBT community. Our goal is to grow the estimated future value of our endowment to over $20 million over the next 5 to 10 years. |
